Allison is the founding chair of the Matakana Coast Trail Trust.
She pursued business studies at ATI instead of accepting the sporting/academic scholarship to UCLA. Her international sporting career saw her set two world’s bests, winning many prestigious races and awards, while at the same time, standing up publicly for women’s sporting equality.
At home she worked for TV3 as a sports presenter, saw a gap in the market and so established her TV production company bringing ‘alternative’ and multi sports to NZ audiences, while growing her family. Businesses in land development, organics and a baby stroller for active parents ensued. Allison has served on many non-profit boards and created a women’s national series of running and walking events over a decade, that boosted female participation and raised significant funds for charity.
Six years in local government and three terms on the Waitemata District Health Board (current) has inspired her to redirect her energies to better use.
“I’m passionate about the benefits of cycling and how well-planned trails connect communities and have a truly measurable impact on our health, road safety, local economies and the great NZ
environment.”
Allison is currently the World Masters Mountain Bike Champion (age group) and lives in the Matakana/Pt Wells area with her husband Alan.
